Talk to someone

Coping skill · 5 min

One small reach

It has been days since you really talked to anyone.

Do this

  1. Pick one person, even someone you have not talked to in a year.
  2. Send something low-pressure: "Saw this and thought of you."
  3. Go somewhere with people in it: a coffee shop, a meeting, a library.
  4. Say one sentence to one stranger.
  5. Do one small reach again tomorrow.

Why it works

Strong feelings and urges rise, peak and fall, usually within minutes. A skill gives your body something to do while the wave passes, and each time you ride one out, the next one gets a little easier.
