The Standard
Do it the right way, or do not do it.
Ten commitments. This is what we look for in every program, and what we will hold ourselves to.
- 01
The price, in writing, before admission
Your estimated cost in dollars. Not “we will work with your insurance.”
- 02
No one is paid for your admission
No brokers, no finder fees, no gifts.
- 03
Level of care follows an assessment
Based on national criteria, not on what your plan will pay.
- 04
Medication is offered, never shamed
For opioid and alcohol use disorders, it is the standard of care.
- 05
Mental health is treated at the same time
By the same team.
- 06
More than one path
12-step is welcome. It is not mandatory.
- 07
Testing only when it changes care
Not as a revenue line.
- 08
A written plan for the day you leave
With names, dates and phone numbers.
- 09
Families are told the truth
With your consent, and without a sales script.
- 10
Outcomes are measured honestly
And published, including the ones that are not flattering.
For programs
Think you meet it?
Programs that meet The Standard will be able to apply for a Cope or Die mark on their listing. Verification, not payment, earns it.
