Cannabinoid
Marijuana
Legal in much of the country and far stronger than it used to be. Most people who use it do not get addicted. Around three in ten regular users do develop a problem, and daily high-THC use makes that more likely.
Also called: weed, cannabis, carts, dabs, edibles

What withdrawal is like
Overdose and emergencies
Not fatal, but too much THC, especially edibles, can cause panic, a racing heart and vomiting. High-potency products can trigger psychosis in some people.
Dangerous combinations
Vape carts from unlicensed sellers may contain other chemicals.
What actually helps
CBT and motivational approaches. Planning for the first two weeks of bad sleep makes the biggest difference.
