The process · Step 2 of 5
Admissions
The phone call, the insurance check and the intake that get you through the door.
You will be asked what you use, how much, your medical and mental health history, and your insurance. The facility then runs a verification of benefits to see what your plan covers.
This is the moment to ask about money. An honest admissions person can tell you your deductible, your coinsurance, your out-of-pocket maximum and whether the facility is in your network. If they cannot, or will not, treat that as an answer.
What to do
- Ask for your estimated cost in dollars, in writing
- Ask whether they are in-network with your exact plan
- Ask who is paid if you admit
- Never accept free flights, cash or gifts for choosing a facility
