Recovery

Life after treatment, and the part that actually lasts.

Recovery is built in ordinary weeks: a therapist, a medication if you need one, people who know the truth, sleep, work, something that matters to you. For some that is a 12-step room. For others it is SMART Recovery, faith, the gym, a medication and a counselor, or a mix.

Relapse is common and it is not the end. It is information about what the plan was missing.

What to do

  • Keep one weekly anchor no matter what
  • Have a written plan for cravings and for bad news
  • Carry naloxone if opioids were ever part of it
  • Tell someone within 24 hours if you use
